Role-plays are more than just getting credit…
One of the services we provide our self storage clients is being able to role-play sales scenarios with call center staff. A lot of the time unfortunately I get a caller who is just calling to get their credit and take nothing more from the experience. Maybe if we understand the point of the role-play, it will help emphasize the importance of the role-play. Role-plays are supposed to be an exercise used to practice the sales techniques we are trained to use on a daily basis. If we can work on the areas we are not good at or comfortable with, then it makes it easier to get through those areas on an actual call with a customer.The role-plays are not meant to be experienced as something you have to do to get credit. They are tools we provide to help improve everyone’s sales game, secret shopping evaluations and to bring about sales increase. So next time you get asked to do a self stoage role-play, don’t just blow it off. Don’t tell the person you practice with that it is just so you can get credit. Put some effort into it. Be engaged. We talk to customers all day too, but the extra practice can always be used to improve any part of the sales process.
