Taking the scenic route through town, Violet was enamored by the giant fir trees dancing in the breeze. She never tired of the scenery here in the Pacific Northwest. The place she called home was fundamental to her peace and spiritual well being. She had no plans to leave any time soon. She was a woman on a mission. Her mission was to support herself without having to sell her soul for a paycheck.
She wore many hats to finance her life, each one of them worthwhile to her. Violets intention was peace and joy in how she spent her time. She assembled and sold flower and herb arrangements at the local farmers market each Wednesday and Saturday. This brought beauty and nature into her life as well as a sense of creativity. She also worked as a Mothers helper to two beautiful little girls, which brought her playfulness and smiles. Needing a third source of income, and looking for something legitimate mystery shopping took her by surprise. She had never heard of legitimate mystery shopping before, and her curiosity had been piqued immediately.
Today she was off on her first assignment, a large chain department store. Violet loved to browse through racks of clothing. Fitting rooms were a private place of discovery for her. Even if she bought nothing, it was worthwhile just to look at all of the different ways that she could choose to represent herself to the world. Going to the mall was one of Violets favorite past times. There was no way that this would not be a fun experience for her. Finding a parking space right up front, Violet thanked the parking fairy and strolled into the store, absorbing the sights and sounds around her with new eyes. She saw several retail clerks busy assisting their customers. All but one presented themselves with gracious smiles. She made a mental note and moved on to the womens department.
Legitimate mystery shopping required that she be professional yet undetectable among the ranks of the department store workers. Not drawing attention to herself was key. She began her assessment by pretending to browse a clearance rack marking summer blouses down 30 percent. A great deal, she thought to herself, noting that it was going to take some mental discipline to keep her from looking at the clothing instead of doing legitimate mystery shopping for the betterment of the store overall. She put her personal fashion sense aside as soon as she was greeted courteously by a clerk. She made brief small talk, asked about sizes, and took a couple of blouses to try on in the dressing room. She was pleased with the personal service that she had received and made a mental note of the girls name.
Violet took her blouses to the dressing room, all the while noticing the cleanliness of the store, and even that the trash cans behind the counter had been recently emptied. In the dressing room, she sat making notes in her notebook of the experience that she just had, satisfied with the overall service and grateful that she had only good things to report back. Legitimate mystery shopping seemed to be an easy and fun way to make money and she looked forward to her next assignment later that afternoon at a deli uptown. Just for kicks, Violet tried on the blouses before she left the dressing room. On her way out of the womens department, the young clerk thanked her for coming in. Violet smiled.
