The Power of Suggestion
-
Providing excellent customer service is not an easy job. I have worked at a few different retail stores where customer service is just as an important job responsibility as it is here at the PhoneSmart call center. Even though a retail sale involves face-to-face interaction and I sell storage over the phone, some of the sales techniques are very similar.
Suggestive selling is a huge concept in retail sales. Have you ever been at a clothing store, and at the checkout counter the clerk tells you they have jewelry that is fifty percent off, a shell necklace would complete that outfit, or if you had a chance to look at their new hand bags? This is suggestive selling! Fast food restaurants are also notorious for suggestive selling. Do you want fries with that?
Here at the call center, the sales technique of suggestive selling is used in nearly every rental inquiry. We use it by telling the customers that we also have an extensive selection of moving and storage supplies! Boxes, tape, bubble wrap…whatever you may need. When the sales representative tells customers that they can pick up the lock for their unit when they get to the store, this is another good example of suggestive selling.
