The Big Guy vs. The Little Guy

We are doing some small remodeling in our house.  We had to paint our walls, add texture to them, get new trim for the walls, replace crown molding, redo the floors, etc.  It is a lot of work.
 
So my wife, being the bargain shopper she is, she likes this place called Hoods.  It’s a warehouse/ barn type place. There are some great deals at Hoods, but I have a hard time finding things.  Sometimes the people are friendly and can assist you, but sometimes they aren’t.  They just have things all over the place and some things are damaged.  You can tell they don’t concern themselves with upkeep. I always suggest going to Lowes to get the things that we need.
 
We went to look at Lowes and things were nicely lit, organized, clean and looked new.  When you looked at the prices, they were much higher than Hoods.  When you look at how many people walk into a Lowes store vs. Hoods, they must be doing something better.  I would have rather bought things from Lowes.  I lost that battle and we bought things from Hoods.  We did save a lot of money.
 
When you are selling self storage, you have to show people why they should rent with you and not your competitor. Whether it’s great amenities, location, cleanliness, or reputation, the customer needs to hear and see it.
