Temporarily Handicapped

I broke my ankle the beginning of September and I have had the opportunity to see things from a different perspective.  For one, I have found motorized shopping-carts are a truly wonderful thing (even if I am a horrible driver)!
Some things that have not surprised me…
 

• My dentist’s office has three huge, heavy doors…
•  Small discounted grocery and department stores are difficult.  Their aisles are small, and they do not have motorized carts.
•  Rainy weather is just plain hazardous.  Vinyl flooring gets really slick, floor mats roll up and chase me, and crutches develop a mind of their own. 

 
But on my first day of using crutches, I discovered several inconveniences that I had never noticed before!
 

• When I went to get my temporary disability tag at the Department of Motor Vehicles I saw there were some handicapped parking spaces.  However, they are located directly in front of steps.  I had to hobble down the sidewalk to get to a ramp…
•  I like to try to shop at Mom and Pop stores, so I had my prescription called into a locally owned drug store.  I knew they did not have a drive-thru, but I never noticed the Pharmacy is located at the very back of a very long and narrow building…
   
• One of the huge Big-Box stores has two entrances.  There are plenty of handicapped parking spaces…all located a long way from the doorway where the motorized carts are stored!
