A might involve an agent to visit a bank on an assignment. The agent might have to do a number of things. He has to first visit the bank posing like a customer. He might have to apply for a loan, open a new account with the bank, make enquiries about the different offers that are open for account holders or simply interact with some members of the staff on matters pertinent to bank procedures.
Some banks require a person to be a current account holder with them to interact with them. Other banks are open to meeting people and discussing things with them even if they do not have any current accounts with them. But being an account holder is always advantageous because one can perform transactions like deposits and withdrawals smoothly. By not having an account with the bank the agent can perform only limited functions. He can perform only those that do not require one to have an account with the bank, for example, cashing gift and traveler checks etc. But many of the agents are asked to open accounts in a lot of banks so that they can perform all the tasks that are required of them.
Working with banks is different from working with retail outlets, apartments or portable storage and self storage as the agent might have to present financial credentials that are different from his real credentials. In the case of retail outlets, an agent does not have to present any personal credentials because he walks into the stores in the capacity of a regular shopper. But working with banks is a different thing altogether because for interacting with the staff members out there and extracting information one should furnish a lot of information about self. Hence the agent on a secret shopper job to a bank should prepare well for answering questions pertaining to personal profile.
The agent is expected to behave like an ordinary account holder or a visitor who is enthusiastic to know about certain bank procedures. He should also try his best to not arouse the suspicion of people around him by appearing to be very knowledgeable. In a conversation, it is always better for the agent to let the other person do the talking. The main objective of the agent is to collect as much information as possible. It is better for him to just respond to the questions of the bank staff. In other scenarios like in the case of retail outlets, it is the agents who do the questioning, but in banks it is the other way round.
The agent who goes to the bank as a part of his secret shopper job should be very spontaneous with his answers. He should be ready with answers that can be easily reasoned out with commonsense. For example, if an agent says that while he was out shopping in a nearby area, he had thought of visiting the bank, if asked the purpose of his visit, it will sound very silly. Nobody suddenly thinks of opening a bank account while out for shopping. He should have a valid reason for that. Saying that since a long time he has been contemplating of opening an account in a particular bank as it was close by is a good reason. The agent on a secret shopper job should only tell very simple stories because complicated ones will get him into trouble sooner or later.
