Recycle Those Buildings
-
It was just announced in our town that a major grocery chain was going to add a few more locations. This is good news for two reasons. 1. The area that one of the locations is going to be is great because of the lack of grocery stores in the area and 2. They will be taking over an abandoned building that used to be a grocery store. I think it’s great when old properties can be redone and brought back to life without demolishing the existing building. I read awhile back about how some company was taking old grocery sites and turning them into gyms. The large wide open floor space, minimal architecture and parking lot were just some of the great reasons to convert the space. Not to mention the site was already located in areas of the city that were highly populated. I wish I had the capital to turn an old grocery store into a gym because I think the idea it great.
When it comes to property management it pays to think outside the grocery store. Converting and remodeling are tools that should be used more often in property management. Think of it as a big recycling project and save some money while you are doing it.
