Here within the past year or so I have noticed that when I speak with someone in New York City they are always asking if we are going to move their belongings into their self storage unit.  We only advertise a free truck with move in at some facilities.  But that doesn’t deter them from asking for help and when I tell them we do not offer such a service they seem flabbergasted at what I tell them.  It seems to me that in particular areas, adding movers to the self storage experience could bring about more business for certain self storage facilities.  A lot of people seeking self storage in that area are single women that do not have anyone to help them move their belongings.  I had one lady ask me, well, who am I going to get to move my things for me?  I just politely told her she could possibly utilize a moving company.  Which is what moving companies are there for but if you added movers to the mix of services through self storage then it could either be a service they pay for in addition to the self storage unit or they could offer it along with a self storage unit.  Either way I believe it could bring about a lot of business because usually when a caller says they can not move their belongings they have to find someone to help them before they rent the self storage unit.  This means a lot of the time we can not reserve a unit until they find someone to help them move!
