Property Management Decisions

In past blogs, you might have heard that I am just one of the manager over a multimillion dollar business and I have to make many decisions that can affect my business. I consider myself some one who can adapt to any situation and I possess the ability to make the right decision. Sometimes though, the decision of those above me, do not always make sense to me.

Yesterday, the bomb was dropped on me that I have now inherited three additional departments. So I only have 40 hours sometimes 45 hours to ensure that my business is running well.  I have more than a handful of people under me that want development, training and support. How do I fit more into my already hectic work schedule? Was this the right decision to put more of a workload on me when there salaried people higher than me who are suppose to be responsible for these things? Now what do they do? What is their direction and function in the store? Was it the right decision?

When you are in charge of a property or a series of stores/ locations /departments, you have to ensure that you have the right support group and crystal clear explanations of what their responsibilities are. Otherwise there is misunderstanding, anger, and many times chaos. When making changes that have to deal with your properties, as a manager, you have to make sure that everything is in place and that you have buy in from your people. Right now after hearing the news from yesterday, all I feel right now, without explanation, is lost. If one of the managers of this multimillion dollar business is lost, how will the business be affected?
