What is the perfect self storage reservation? There are, in my opinion, five things that come into play with the perfect reservation. One would be the perfect answer to the ringing phone. I think people take this part for granted but a personable and cheery answer to the phone can make someone’s already not so good day into a great day, and who doesn't want to work with someone that just made their day better? People who answer my phone calls with a smile instantly put me at ease.  This keeps me from wanting to hang up.

Number two would be what I call, the customer, salesperson connection. This happens after the 1st few questions are asked and answered. This is when the customer decides whether or not they like this person enough to give them the time of day. Some of the Five Agreements are taking place during this stage but mostly an understanding is happening between the two parties.

In step three the need for storage is expressed, acknowledged, and discussed.

Step four is the passing of information and understanding of procedure. If this part goes well, if you pass along all details of the storage facility and tie the price and features to the customer’s need the customer can be in love with you.  After all most people buy the salesman first.   By step four the customer is ready to give you his/her credit card to get the self storage unit.

So step five is now in effect and this step is the taking of information during some pleasant conversation. I like to assure the customer and ask if they have any questions during this part. This lets them know I'm working for them and I don’t want anything to go wrong during their storage experience. We close the call with a quick recap and friendly thank you. At this point I feel empowered, the customer hangs up feeling accomplished, and life is great. This is my version of the perfect customer reservation call.
