Mystery Shopping Companies

  • Many hotel, banking, medical, storage , mini storage or real estate management firms are hiring agents from mystery shopping companies to evaluate their current official practices, especially the front office ones. Earlier only firms belonging to the hospitality industry would hire the agents from these agencies, but nowadays, firms belonging to a lot of other industries are also hiring the agents to evaluate the standard of their front office performance. A lot of these agencies advertise in popular media. A person who is enthusiastic about working as an agent should go through these advertisements and register themselves with a genuine agency.

Mystery shopping companies differ in the facilities that they offer. They differ in their training modules and the pay that they assign to their agents. They differ in the perks that they offer to those people who work with them. It is always better for a person enthusiastic about working as an agent to first know the credentials and the track record of the agency that they want to register with. Well established organizations that have a proven track record are generally genuine. One should be very careful with newly established firms. They make tall promises but deliver very less. Both the applicant and the hiring firm should be cautious while choosing such firms. These firms are generally fraudulent. They charge fees from both the firm and the applicants promising to serve them, but they disappear from the scene as soon as they make money. They do not answer the phone calls of their clients and avoid them.

In the United States there are about 400 to 500 mystery shopping companies from which one can choose a company that is most appropriate for him. Of course, that is going to be a pretty tough and time taking task. Genuine agencies do not charge any fee from the person who applies with them for an assignment or even from the firm that hires agents from them. Even if they do, they provide adequate documentation to testify the payments made and all accounts are fairly settled. But finding such agencies has become a Herculean task these days. There are a lot of firms that advertise online, gain prominent positions in search engine listings, and list themselves in the directory listings of prominent online directories but very few of them are actually genuine.

Genuine mystery shopping companies state very clear cut mission statements. They provide testimonials to their promises. Client satisfaction is of utmost importance to them. They deliver what they say and their clients do not have any issues with them. Instead of going by advertisements, the best way for one is to get information about an agency is from people who are already working there or have worked there. They will be able to give accurate information about the firm as they will be well conversant with the inside story of that agency. However, for the majority of enthusiasts, this facility is not available in which case, they have to depend on advertisements for their information about a firm.

One of the reliable sources of information about mystery shopping companies is the online blogs. Online blogs consist of information that is mostly genuine because people out there express their free and frank opinions about the agencies, the shoppers and the firms hiring them. Blogs are written by the general public who have experience of these agencies and hence they are unbiased.
