The agent is expected to have some basic characteristics that will help in performing his work efficiently. He should be able to observe things sharply and should have an eye for detail. He should be able to form an accurate opinion about the situation that he comes across. The secret shopping agent should be unbiased in his opinion as biases will alter the feedback that is being conveyed to the managers due to which the decisions based on them will be incorrect.

    Usually the client relationship executives misinterpret the intentions of the agent and the firm. They think that they are being spied upon and they do not like the idea. But they should bear in mind that this spying is not being done to put a list faults in their memory storage and penalize them. It is done to understand where they are being correct and where they are being incorrect. Any good work is always acknowledged. If such things are understood then the work becomes much easier.

    Earlier it was only the hospitality industry that used to employ secret shopping agents, but nowadays, after realizing the importance of consumer satisfaction in business success, almost all industries are employing agents to get feedback on the level of consumer satisfaction they are giving to their clients. Every manufacturer of products is employing agents to know the scenario in its retail outlet. The agents get to spend some nice time in hotels when on an assignment. Restaurants, local self storage and fast food joints are also places where agents are sent.

    The healthcare industry has also become aware of the importance of satisfying its patients and hence one can get to see the secret shopping agents being assigned hospitals and healthcare centers to assess the patient satisfaction that is being rendered.
