In the Self Storage Industry, nothing has surprised me yet. There have been a few calls that have made me wonder. Like when I have to scratch my head and raise my eyebrow and wonder how, who, huh? One earlier morning before I had my coffee to help me awake to wonderful self storage calls that I would be handling that morning, I received a call that made me do that very thing. Scratch my head and raise my eyebrow.
This young lady on the other end of the line went into a deep explanation of how she had a unit and she was behind on the bill. She went on to explain that her and her husband had just purchased an apartment and how they did not have any furniture in the apartment at all yet as everything was in her self storage unit.
She wasn’t shy to ask me if it was o.k. for her to pay for half of the amount due, so that her and her husband could come to the property and take out half of the furniture in the unit so they could at least put some furniture into their brand new apartment. Of course, I had to give her my two cents, and maybe I shouldn’t have. But I warned her that storage doesn’t work that like that. She would have to pay her full amount due before they would allow her access to her unit. Of course I urged her to leave a message for the or manager to get the final word, but she made me scratch my head that day.
