Get Your Property Ready For October

October is a time of transition for Mother Nature and property managers alike. The leaves on the trees are changing colors and falling to the ground. It is important to get these gathered away from sidewalks and pathways, where leaves can be a slippery hazard. It is the time of year to work on gardens and bushes, to get everything pruned and ready for their long winter’s nap. And it is important to make sure all water hoses and faucets are drained of water and will not freeze (and potentially burst!) during the cold winter months.
In October it is important to stock up on snow shovels and Icy-Melt. If your property has large parking lots, make plans to get roadways and parking areas cleaned of ice and snow. Make sure all of your property management and tenants have proper smoke alarms with good batteries. And if your tenants have fireplaces they need to know to have their chimneys professionally cleaned every fall.
And October is always a good time to have some fun! Halloween is just around the corner – and the Holidays are not too far behind! Decorate the grounds with black and orange, hang some ghosts and goblins, and keep a bowl of candy in the office for clients and visitors. Health conscience? Skip the candy, and fill the bowl with granola bars or cookies or Play Dough.
With Ol’ Man Winter just around the corner it is best to be prepared ahead of time!
