Eye To Eye With TQAS

  • My brother David was involved in a fender-bender while taking his three young sons to soccer practice.  He immediately checked on his kids to make sure no one was hurt or scared.  (The kids thought everything was pretty exciting with all of the lights and policemen milling around!) Since they were in the middle of the intersection, David left all three boys strapped in their seats until everything could be sorted out.
About fifteen minutes later an EMT told David she wanted to check on each of the boys individually, to be sure there was nothing wrong.  The eight year old had a mark on his chest from his seat belt, and the middle child had a bruise on his leg.  But they were both just fine.  When the paramedic got to the four year old she asked him “ are you hurt anywhere?”  He just looked at her and said, “My arm is broke. (Sic)” Everyone freaked out!  Even though he did not seem to be in pain, this child sat for all of this time with a fractured limb!
Very carefully she asked him where his ‘arm was broke (sic)’.  He proceeded to lift his sleeve and show her the band-aid that covered the boo-boo he had gotten at pre-school that morning.   She asked if he was hurt – and he was!

Are you speaking at “eye-level” with your customers?  When you discuss a ‘small’ storage unit, are you thinking about a 5×5 and he is thinking about a 10×15?  Remember, the devil is in the details! Ask probing questions and listen for the answers.  This is a sales technique that can help create sales increases for our client stores and help to insure that the caller gets the best deal.
