There are always extra fees and charges associated with anything you buy. Self storage is no different. I always try to tell people about the extra fees that are associated with renting a storage unit. I try to tell them about the administration fees, any deposits, locks or anything else they’ll need to purchase at the store. I believe that we provide customer service to people in and that’s my way if ensuring that they receive the best quality service possible. It’s also a good sales technique for the store and the property. I have gotten several calls from new customers and was told that no one mentions the additional fees. They were happy that I told them all of the fees that were going to have to pay. A few days later, they called back and rented a storage unit. This resulted in a potential sales increase for that facility. I have also gotten calls where the customer was upset because they weren’t told of the extra fees that they had to pay. I believe telling the fees lets the customer be a part of the decision process. I have found that the majority of the renters to don’t mind the fees if they have time to plan for them.
