Many self storage companies are shifting from being the metal storage rows on a large lot. Property management companies are taking their new and existing self storage properties into better retail areas. Many self storage companies offer an office full of moving and packing supplies to help with you self storage and moving needs. Bubble wrap, boxes, locks, furniture covers, packing material, specialized boxes, are just some of the items that self storage offices are carrying. They want to make their self storage offices a one stop storage and moving spot. Post office boxes have made their way into many self storage businesses. If you don’t want to go to your local post office to get your mail then this could be an option for you. An even newer trend is offering a business center to customers. Computers, wireless connection to the Internet, faxes, copiers, meeting rooms are set up to keep the self storage client on the property longer. This would be the perfect scenario for someone who was selling items on one of the auctions sites on the Internet. You could rent a self storage unit for all the items and then use the free business center to conduct the transactions, all this without having your own storefront. It will be interesting to see what comes in the future for the self storage office; I can’t wait to see what else they will think of.
