No option is better to store your article, than a self storage rental . Most of the time people use it as a temporary storing system. However, some of them do use this as a permanent solution to their storing problem. Whatever is the requirement, you must know certain things before moving your items to the storing place, so that you can optimize your rented real estate rental space and can prevent damage to your belongings.

• As it is the most convenient, secured but cheaper method to store, you need to do proper planning to make this an efficient and cost effective effort. If you need to visit your storing unit often, then better go for a larger unit than a compactly filled unit, as here you will get some leg space to move inside the unit.
• Keep the items, which you might require often, at the front unit of the self storage rental . This will make things easier for you, when you want to remove them from the unit.
• Maintain a uniform box size, so that stacking becomes easy. While stacking place the heavier boxes at the bottom, and lighter boxes on the top.
• At the time of packing, fill each box compactly and tightly. You should not keep any loose space between the items inside the box. All blank spaces must be filled up by packing materials like paper or unused cloth etc.
• If possible, place the boxes on a ply board or pallets, otherwise place plastic sheet on the floor before putting the boxes. This is a must, particularly if the floor of the self storage rental is made of concrete material, to prevent the bottom of the boxes from damp and cold.
• You should leave small space between the wall and the boxes. Also, leave a narrow space at the middle so that you can move till the end to pick up some item, which is kept at the rear end.
• Make a list of the items contained in a box and paste it on the wall of the box. This will help you to remember, which box contains which items. Also, identify each box with a unique number, and prepare a list mentioning which box contains what. This inventory list should be maintained and kept with utmost concern at home or within a safe deposit.
• Identify the box containing breakable items as fragile, so that people at the self storage rental take extra care to handle this box while moving to and from storing unit.
• Crockery items should be individually wrapped with packing paper and placed within a dish pack box.
• To keep the smaller sized items, you can use drawers of the chest or cupboards. This way, the small items will not get lost and you can use them whenever you want.
• Thoroughly clean all the kitchen materials, before storing them. As this could generate bugs and insects and can eventually destroy the articles.
• All clothing items should be hanged in a hanger. If hanger is not available in the self storage rental then carefully fold all the materials and put them on the shelves or within the box.
• Seal all the boxes properly with masking tape or adhesive paper tape.
• Lock the storing unit with a high quality padlock, for additional security on top of the normal security arrangements at the store.
• Finally, do not keep any item inside the unit, which is prohibited to store at the warehouse.
