Do Your Customers Remember You?
-
Joel went on a trip to the store to pick up a few things. I added socks to his list. Every winter it seems like I have to buy new socks because they mysteriously disappear during the summer months. I asked him to look for the kind with the arch support; they are reinforced in the middle section and I like the way they fit. He couldn’t find them so he bought a different kind.
I was looking forward to having my favorite brand new socks. Since then, I’ve looked for them whenever I’m in a store. I don’t know what brand they were or where I bought them, so it’ll only be by chance that I find them again.
We talk to many customers in our call center that stored somewhere before, but can’t remember which place it was. They liked the service they received at the previous place, but they just don’t remember the specifics. Although storage is easier to look for than socks, making it easier for your past tenants to remember your name can end up bringing you more business in the future.
Send a postcard to past tenants once a year or so, just to say thanks for the business and remind them you’re around. Try putting a picture of a car covered in ice and snow, parked in front a garage stuffed with junk. They may just decide to clean out that garage and look to you for their storage needs.
