Every morning on my way to work at the call center I stop at a gas station for my morning soda and maybe even some snacks. It is the one place I know I will always get good customer service. The employee always says “good morning” and greets you with a smile on her face. I believe these are two good sales techniques. The company offers a punch card on coffee, since I don’t drink coffee; she lets me use the card with my soda purchase. I know that they will have a sales increase as long as this lady works there.
She doesn’t have to do all she does but realizes that everyday customers are important. She remembers what kind of cigarettes you smoke and what you buy each morning. She knows what customer service is all about and how to treat you so you will keep coming back. If you should forget to pay for your gas (oops!) she does not call the cops, instead, she will remind you and joke about it the next day.
