Christmas In Connecticut

Well, the holidays have come and gone. Just as in years previous, I worked late every night for a month getting ready. I shopped, checked ebay, wrapped gifts, and prepared for visitors. When my sister arrived, the work was done. I was ready to relax. I had my puzzles and games wrapped and under the tree. I was ready for days of eating off paper plates, snacking, and no cooking. I was going to park myself in a chair and spend hours twisting and untwisting wires to release children’s dolls from captivity in their boxes. I was set.
And then it happened. Two days before Christmas, my six year old told me she wasn’t hungry at breakfast. When she told me the same thing at lunch, my blood pressure started to rise. I knew where this was going.
I am not sure if the connection is that it’s Christmas and we always have to be sick on Christmas or maybe it’s the fact that I have all my work done and I have nothing better to do than clean throw up off the couch. So, here it is January 2nd and for 24 hours we have not had a smidge of diarrhea or throw up. I just got everyone off to school and I am looking at all the Christmas decorations that now need to come down. I know that one of these years I am going to have to throw my hands up and say no more Christmas decorations. It’s too much work when I am just going to spend the entire week in the bathroom and I won’t get to enjoy them.
Maybe that’s the answer – next year I will put the decorations up in the bathroom. I wonder if the tree will fit.
In business and especially , just like in life, you have to roll with the punches.
