Build Bridges With TQA’s

Do you know someone that when you go anywhere with them, everyone knows who they are? You can walk in a retail store or to the grocery store and the workers or those shopping acknowledge them as they pass by. It is definitely a very interesting site and at the same time, it was very puzzling. Could it mean that this person has been around town so much that people see him a one of the norms here or does it mean that he has actually encountered each of these people and had conversations with them? I don’t know.  It really got me thinking.

Today, I found out that I knew a person like that. My buddy Gary and I were walking through Lowes gathering materials for to do some home improvement. No matter who we walked by they stopped to say hello or to smile and nod in his direction.  He told me that he was in there so much that everyone knew who he was. He went on to tell me that him and Sam Walton (yep the Sam Walton who founded Wal-Mart) went on a float trip together years ago. It sounded a little far fetched for me, but I have never known him to lie to me. Even though he had been in Lowes all the time and everyone knows who he is, they still choose to say hi or to smile and nod in his direction. 

His personality is what everyone loves. He is very positive, funny and his voice is inviting. People trust him and people would do anything for him. The same thing is very important to the managers who are attempting to sell their storage spaces. Sometimes, all they have is the conversation that is on phone. They have to be inviting, personable and able to discover the caller’s needs.  A warm voice on the other side of the phone will make the caller feel good about their decision to rent self storage there.
