Apartment Property Managers

Some time ago I recall going apartment hunting with a friend of mine.  When she found a residence that she was interested in she had to contact a company that managed the property. This was one of my early lessons about property management. 

In the past I had always dealt with a landlord so this whole thing about going through a company was all new to me.  Once the call from my friend to the agency was made a representative from the property management company set a designated day and time to meet wit her to go and show the property to my friend.  The representative of the property management company was very friendly, helpful and willing to answer all of my questions about property management.  Through my investigation I discovered that this method of renting is very popular in military bases, as the actual owner is unable to be there due to deployment or reassignment of the active duty personnel.  Therefore, the owner of the property contracts a company to manage the property for them.

Under management of the company comes responsibilities such as the upkeep of the lawn (but this must be noted in the contract), accepting all monies to include deposits and monthly rental fees as well as any late fees that may be accrued.  The property management company is also responsible for any repairs that the dwelling may need and reporting the expenses needed for the repairs to the owner.  If any damages were done to the property, the management company is responsible to make a notation of the damages. 

Through my friend’s experience, I was able to learn about the property management industry. Overall, I see that the property management company as the middle person between the owner of the dwelling and the person that is interested in renting the dwelling.  Having a property management company manage your company is a good way to save time and money if the owner is not able to do it themselves.  Property management companies are a life saver for the owner because they are being contracted to deal with things that can eliminate stress and worry for the owner. 

I view property management companies as I do a call center and the company that the call center is representing.  I want to say thanks to all of the property management companies for making the job of ownership a real easy task through the services that they provide!
