At the call center we are always trying to find a way to make the reservation possible. Most of the time our biggest challenge is callers who don’t have a credit card they can use to reserve the unit. Most of the time we are the ones to ask if they have someone who could loan them a card just for the prepayment or simply to hold the unit, and a lot of times that will work. Although today I got a call from someone who had called earlier; they didn’t have a credit card, but came up with a solution I had yet to think of until today. There are apparently many convenience stores around the country that will sell prepaid gift card with one of the major logos. These cards are more than adequate for a one time storage reservation. So, the caller asked me if he went out and got a prepaid card if he would be able to reserve the . I told him that would work, and he said he was heading out and would call back in a little while.
While it may seem fairly pushy to ask a caller to go to this extreme, it couldn’t hurt to mention it. Besides, reserving the is a service to them so that they’ll have it when they need it.
